Edgemere Labradors Warranty 2021

Sales of all Edgemere puppies are formalized via individual sales contract and bill of sale.

The buyer is purchasing this puppy with an American Kennel Club (AKC) Limited Registration. According to AKC, under Limited Registration, "no offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted are eligible for registration." However, the purchased dog is eligible to compete in AKC events such as Hunting, Field Trials, Obedience, Tracking, and Agility, with the exception of breed conformation shows. The buyer agrees not to register said puppy under any other registry without breeder consent.

Upon purchasing the puppy, the buyer agrees not to spay or neuter said puppy before 18 months of age; violation of said terms will void this warranty.

Registering your puppy and the microchip with The American Kennel Club is an essential part of responsible dog ownership. Edgemere Labradors pre-pay the cost of the AKC Registration and AKC Reunite (microchip registration). For an effective warranty, the Purchaser must register the puppy and microchip with The American Kennel Club and AKC Reunite. Registration is to ensure that your puppy's identity is irrefutable and is crucial to the recovery of your puppy if lost or stolen. Ordinarily, we will complete your puppy's registration before or during pick up.

All Edgemere breeding stock and the stud dogs we use are screened for the following OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Hearts, OFA Eyes (yearly), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). Edgemere Labradors expect the Purchaser to remember that environmental factors may contribute to health issues. Copies of health clearances from sire and dam are included in the puppy information package or via email.

Before being released to the Purchaser, all puppies from the litter received their first vaccine, are dewormed, microchipped, and have received a Wellness Puppy Check-Up from an AAHA Accredited Veterinary Hospital before. We highly recommend following Dr. Jean Dodds vaccine protocol. We will provide appropriate dates for follow up vaccines in your puppy packet. The Purchaser should discuss the following two vaccines with their veterinarian: the Lepto vaccination is recommended for dogs at risk of exposure to Leptospirosis. The initial vaccine is administered at 12 weeks old and repeated two to four weeks later than repeated annually. Lyme Vaccine is also recommended for dogs at risk of exposure to Ticks. The initial vaccine is administered after 16 weeks old, repeated two to four weeks later than repeated annually. The level of risk for these two diseases may depend on geographic location.

To validate the health warranty, the Purchaser must have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within 7 days of the transfer. If the puppy is diagnosed with an existing medical problem that was not previously disclosed, the puppy may be returned for a full refund. If the Purchaser wishes to retain possession of the puppy, the Breeder agrees to pay the pet insurance deductible. The Purchaser must provide the Breeder with a letter from the attending veterinarian specifying the nature of the problem and copies of the medical record and expenses. If requested by the Breeder, the Purchaser must provide the Breeder with an evaluation from a second veterinarian of the Breeder's choice at the Breeder's expense before any payment.

For the rest of the health warranty to remain effective, the Purchaser agrees to make sure that all necessary vaccinations, flea and tick prevention and routine veterinary care are provided for the dog along with the rest of the items in this paragraph. The Purchaser needs to understand that until a Labrador has completed its growing only moderate exercise is recommended. Over-exercising is not recommended and can hurt your puppy as it grows. Moderate exercise for your puppy strengthens the gluteal muscles, such as short five to ten-minute walks, play, and swimming, which are a good idea. Activities that apply excessive force to the hip or leg joints such as playing Frisbee or jumping to catch a ball are not recommended for young dogs. We will not warranty dogs that have worn harnesses. Harnesses can do major damage to the structure of a dog if worn while dogs are still growing.

All Edgemere puppies are warrantied against genetic defects that limit a puppy's ability to fulfill the purpose for which it was purchased. The purpose for which the puppy is purchase will be noted on the bill of sale. Edgemere puppies come with one month of free pet health insurance. Since accidents happen, all owners are required to pay for and maintain the policy for one year. If any genetic issues are found during this time, Edgemere Labradors agree to pay the deductible.

Edgemere Labradors have taken reasonable precautions to prevent acquired hereditary disorders. If a purchased puppy develops a serious inherited disorder that will prevent the dog from living a fulfilling pet life, within the first 24 months of age, the Breeder will provide the Purchaser with a partial refund of 50% of the purchase price. Examples of serious inherited disorders include documentable severe to non-functional hip dysplasia, OFA grade II to III elbow dysplasia, inherited epilepsy, clinical significant juvenile cataracts, and moderate to severe TVD. The Purchaser must provide the Breeder with copies of the medical records and expenses, including OFA documentation and a letter from the attending veterinarian within 30 days of the discovery. If requested, the Purchaser must also provide an evaluation by a second veterinarian selected by the Breeder at the Purchaser's expense. The Purchaser may retain possession of the dog or return the dog to the Breeder.

I understand the Labrador Retriever I am purchasing from Edgemere Labradors:

    • Is being sold on an AKC Limited Registration.

    • Must be kept intact until the age of 18 months.  Spaying or neutering before 18 months of age will void the warranty.

    • Must be kept on Tick, Flea and Heartworm prevention for the life of the dog.  If your dog tests positive for any Tick born diseases it will void the warranty.

    • Will received a Wellness Puppy Check Up from an AAHA Accredited Veterinary Hospital.

    • Will receive it first series of vaccines and will not be due for 3-4 weeks from the documented given date.

    • Must be examined by my veterinarian within 7 days of transfer, but vaccines will not be due for another 3-4 weeks.  Any vaccines given during this appointment will void the warranty.

    • Must be kept on Pet Health Insurance for the first year of life.  The cost of such insurance is the buyers responsibility.  Failure to comply will void the warranty.

    • Must at 16 weeks old I agree to attend an obedience / socialization class with my dog.

    • Must at 6 months old I agree to attend a minimum of 12 weeks of obedience classes with my dog.

    • Use of a harness will void your dogs health warranty.

I understand the failure to comply with the above statements will void my dog’s warranty.

If for any reason, during this dog's life, the Purchaser cannot care for the dog we would require that they contact us at edgemerelabs@gmail.com or call 207-677-2426 to return the dog.

By my signature, as the Purchaser, I acknowledge reading the Puppy Warranty and understand the requirements from me to maintain this Puppy Warranty.
